With technology becoming increasingly integral to society, the School of Electronic Engineering and Computer Science is defining an exciting and evolving frontier. Through applied teaching and research, the School will continue to develop and harness technology’s power for good, to achieve the previously unthinkable.
Our research covers a wide range of topics, including antennas and electromagnetics, cognitive science, digital music, game AI, intelligent sensing, computer vision and more.
99% of the research done by School academics has been classed as world-leading or internationally excellent. We’ve also been ranked joint 1st in the UK for Impact in Computer Science and Informatics research (REF 2021), and 2nd in the UK in Output for Engineering (REF 2021).
We offer a range of programmes and qualifications available at undergraduate, MSc and PhD levels. Our innovative degree programmes reflect our research specialisms and are taught using industry-relevant tools and techniques. Whichever programme you choose to study, you will be taught by internationally-recognised staff, and you'll have opportunities to access our excellent links with the industry. Being taught by someone who is changing the world with their ideas, ensures that you are totally up to date in the subject.
Queen Mary continually invests in our campuses to ensure that students have access to the most up-to-date teaching and research facilities. Our Graduate Centre offers 7,700 sqm of learning and teaching space including a 200-seat lecture theatre, a landscaped courtyard, a student enterprise ‘hub’, and 24-hour work areas tailored specifically to the needs and working patterns of postgraduates.
Each year we offer a generous support package of scholarships, bursaries and studentships to newly-qualified postgraduate applicants. Queen Mary University of London is delighted to introduce a new Global Talent Scholarship worth £3,000 for highly qualified postgraduate taught offer holders joining us in September 2024.

Queen Mary welcomes students and staff who represent over 170 nationalities. We're also proud to have set up the JP Innovation Centre which was established in 2015, to house and showcase excellent projects by students studying a Queen Mary programme at our partner campus in Beijing (BUPT). The centre has also been serving as a hub to bring together Queen Mary, BUPT and worldwide companies such as China Mobile, IBM and Juniper. Inc.
