Join us for a discussion of ‘Hegemony and Socialist Strategy Today’. This Master Class for research students explores the relevance of Hegemony and Socialist Strategy for analysing contemporary politics and society. Participants will have a chance to develop their understanding of the theory of hegemony, of the method of discourse theory and how to apply it, and of Laclau’s and Mouffe’s works on populism. The speakers will discuss how they see the relevance of the book’s argument today, and there will be ample time for participants to ask questions and engage in dialogue with the speakers.
Speakers: Chantal Mouffe (University of Westminster), Oliver Marchart (University of Vienna), Luciana Cadahia (FLACSO, Quito) and Javier Franzé (Universidad Complutense de Madrid). Chair: Lasse Thomassen (Queen Mary):
