WHERE PLANTS AND PEOPLE MEET

‘Where Plants and People Meet’ is a collaborative programme between the South London Botanical Institute (SLBI) and academics at Queen Mary University of London. It features discussions and workshops focused on plants, people and participation and runs from the 11-29th June 2024. The programme marks the beginning of a two-year reopening process for the SLBI following a long period of closure. ‘Where Plants and People Meet’ is co-curated by Dr. Giulia Carabelli and made possible with support from Queen Mary’s Centre for Public Engagement, Large Grant.

Braiding Sweetgrass Reading Group
Three sessions: Tuesday 11th, 18th, 25th June 6.30pm (you don’t have to attend all of them, but it would be amazing if you can!)

Decolonising Natural History (roundtable discussion)
Wednesday 12th June at 5.30pm

Madder Array: Plant Portraits (workshop)
Saturday 22nd June at 10.30am

The Word for World is Forest (talk)
Thursday 27th June at 7pm

Magical Moss Plants (workshop, suitable for families)
Saturday 29th June, two time slots to choose from

All sessions are FREE! We also welcome donations to help keep are programmes free and accessible.
