Professor Tim Bale commented on Boris Johnson’s resignation in The Washington Post. Professor Bale said that although May is in a difficult spot, “I don’t think it’s necessarily fatal for her — at the moment anyways.” He said the Conservative Party doesn’t really have the appetite for another general election — because of the ongoing Brexit negotiations and because Tories haven’t coalesced around a candidate to champion.
