Join the Centre for Public Engagement at New Scientist Live 2025!

We're thrilled to announce that the Centre for Public Engagement (CPE) is sponsoring a Queen Mary booth at New Scientist Live 18-20 October 2025 at the ExCel London in Newham! Across three vibrant days, we're offering a unique platform for 8 enthusiastic staff/students/groups to showcase their inspiring public engagement projects in fun, interactive, and accessible ways.

This is your chance to bring your research to life, connect with a diverse audience, and celebrate the incredible impact of public engagement. Whether your project involves innovative technology, fascinating experiments, interactive activities, or storytelling, we want you to share it with thousands of curious festival-goers!

When?: Saturday 18  - Sunday 19 October | Schools' Day Monday 20 October

We are currently accepting applications for table top activities. To apply, please complete our quick and easy Microsoft Form.

Eligibility:

  • Applicants must be current staff or students at Queen Mary, with an end date no sooner than 31 December 2025. We welcome applications from staff and students at all career stages—and this is not used as a criterion in the selection process.
  • Lead applicants must be the individuals who will be responsible for delivering the project and subsequent reporting. External applicants are able to apply to the scheme as named co-applicants if collaborating with Queen Mary staff or students on a project.
  • Proposed table top activities must be linked or related to Queen Mary research or work.
  • Funds must be spent by 31 July 2025 ahead of the delivery in October 2025 (funds to pay for staff/students/personnel on the day will be sent separately in October 2025). This is due to funding stipulations.

Timeline:

  • Deadline to apply: 22nd April 2025
  • Decisions communicated: by the w/c 28th April 2025
  • Funds transferred: w/c 5th May 2025
  • Funds (excluding cost for personnel time on the delivery day) spent: 31st July 2025
