Public Engagement

Noor Houadef's unwavering dedication was instrumental in making the Patient and Families Day for People with Arthritis (PPIE summer project) a resounding success. Her exceptional work with staff, PhD students, and, most importantly, the patients and the public, truly set her apart.

Noor's warmth and professionalism extended to all team members (Professors, Lecturers, Nurses, Clinical Admin staff, Clinicians, students, post-docs) and external companies and organisations. Her hand-drawn flyers, personal engagement on social media, and effective event promotion added a unique touch to the project.

Noor gave up her spare time to go into the clinics and support staff in contacting patients. She also spoke directly with and engaged with patients in the waiting room, many of whom attended the event after meeting with her.

She organised all of the catering and prepared ‘wish lists’ of things for us to order, including paper cups, banners, signs, etc and raffle prizes, which were personalised for the needs of patients with arthritis. Noor helped set up the rooms with the team on the day prior to the event and the morning of the event and helped clean up after the event. On the day, she ran a series of activities for patients and the public, and this entertainment went down very well.

The final attendance count on the day was approximately 65 patients and family members and approximately 40 staff members. The day was a huge success, and this is 90% due to Noor.
