The Yours Lawfully podcast is a multi-disciplinary project produced by postgraduate law and tech students of Queen Mary University of London, a collaboration between qLegal and the Technology, Media and Telecommunications Law Institute. This project was a part of SKETCH (Student Knowledge Exchange Through Community Hubs). Episodes feature legal experts, industry trailblazers and leading academics. This year the podcast students introduced exciting changes whilst producing 14 episodes on a variety of topics including tech, media and intellectual property Law.
Yours Lawfully (formerly known as Legal Bytes) was established in 2020 and has since grown rapidly. During the first semester, the students designed and rebranded the logo, the signature jingle and set up the social media platforms to provide listeners with behind-the-scenes content. The students used their creative thinking and knowledge of content management, colour scheme and ways in which students can offer a better experience when hosting respective guest speakers. One of the students on the multidisciplinary project is studying Computer Science and Management and offered to design a brand new website to host the podcast. This would have the benefit of enhancing the audience’s experience by providing an improved user experience, displaying episodes, summary of episodes and speakers seamlessly. The website is in the making and will be released in the summer 2023. The aim of the programme is for students to develop skills such as resilience, creativity, stakeholder management, communication, project management and teamwork. Learning on the programme is experiential by nature, allowing students to gain a true sense of what the world of work is like. They chose their topics, conducted research, found potential guest speaker(s), scheduled the recording session, devised a script, tested run the tech, recorded, incorporated feedback, edited their first draft and published their episode. The cohort of students on the programme produced two more episodes than was originally assigned, with a total of 14 episodes being set to monthly releases until the end of 2023.
Yours Lawfully podcast episodes are released monthly, and you can listen to all episodes on our podcast page.
