Module Organisers

This Academic Leadership Development programme is an interactive programme of training, action learning sets and project work, designed specifically for our Module Organisers.

 

We are launching the new hybrid programme for Module Organisers in 2025. There are numerous dates and cohorts you can join.  

To join this programme, you need to enrol on the CPD Training Site and book yourself on the cohort that works best for you.

Unit 1

The first unit is an in-person session that looks at the following: 

  • Expectations and objectives of the module leader (organiser) role.  
  • Leading and reflecting on your module.
  • Understanding the importance of student feedback .
  • How to act on feedback. 

There are multiple dates, after enrolling please book on the best date that works for you.

Unit 2

This unit focuses on the module design element of the Module Organiser’s role descriptor.  

In this unit you’ll gain valuable insights on:   

  • Leading the design and review of your module. 
  • Implementing the Principles of Academic Degree Programme Design. 
  • Embedding active curriculum for excellence. 

This is an online unit, available on the CPD Training site after attending Unit 1.

Unit 3

This unit focuses on Module leadership skills: 

  • Introduction to communicating effectively as a module organiser.
  • Growing academic reputation.
  • Giving and receiving feedback.  
  • Identifying an action plan for personal leadership development.

This is an online unit, available on the CPD Training site after completing units 1 and 2.

Peer Support Sessions

Join our Peer Support Sessions to connect with colleagues across Queen Mary in a collaborative space to:

  • share best practices: Exchange ideas and strategies to enhance teaching and leadership.
  • solve problems together: Address challenges with diverse perspectives.
  • boost self-awareness: Reflect on your leadership style through constructive dialogue.
  • develop reflective practice: Build habits to continuously improve your effectiveness.

These 2-hour sessions are designed to bring module organisers together. Book at least one session - or join as many as you like - to learn, grow, and strengthen your role!
