Peer Observation of Teaching
Peer Observation of Teaching at Queen Mary University of London is one means by which educators explore and enhance their teaching practice. It is part of Queen Mary’s quality enhancement process, and provides observer and observee with the opportunity to supportively and collegiately discuss and develop teaching approaches and methods. Where appropriate, the opportunity to disseminate effective practice within teams, departments, and the university, is also part of this process.
At Queen Mary, Peer Observation must take place at least once every academic year for all staff delivering teaching. The approach taken is one of partnership, collegiality and support, with a focus on enhancing practice.
This page provides you with the policy, template to use for teaching observations, and guidance on preparing for and engaging in Peer Observation of Teaching.
