I’ve been mentoring colleagues and reviewing applications since I became a Senior Fellow in 2019.
The experience has been hugely rewarding in various ways. Finding out what colleagues are doing, and how and why they’re doing it, is a constant source of inspiration and of ideas that might be adapted to my own practice. It’s also a privilege to contribute to two communities. The first is the wonderful group of staff who support the Teaching Recognition Programme; the second is the ever-growing body of committed and inventive educators who apply for HEA recognition through the TRP.
As an instinctive collaborator, I particularly value the opportunity to help people shape their applications: encouraging candid reflection; fine-tuning exposition and expression; and bringing out, through discussion, what’s really distinctive and valuable about their practice.
