I have been acting as a mentor and reviewer since I became a Senior Fellow in 2019.
As a mentor, I really enjoy the opportunity to hear about the work colleagues are doing at Queen Mary and engage in reflection on the rationale behind that work and its impact not only in terms of the enhancement of teaching and learning but also in terms of their own professional learning.
By reviewing applications and participating in the panels, I also contribute to a community with members from across Queen Mary that engage in relevant discussions about the experiences of teaching and supporting learning and getting involved in the co-ordination, support, supervision, management and/or mentoring of others (whether individuals and/or teams) in relation to teaching and learning.
My participation in this process of recognition of the achievements and successes of colleagues has become one of my most enjoyable areas of work and, at the same time, a key source of inspiration for my own professional learning.
