We encourage staff with a sustained record of effectiveness in relation to teaching and learning to apply for Senior Fellowship. Through this process, you will further your academic career by building on your leading, managing and organising skills. Find out more about the criteria, the application process, key dates as well as the support that’s available to you.

Is Senior Fellowship right for you?

Senior Fellowship is typically suitable for:

  • experienced staff able to demonstrate impact and influence through, for example, responsibility for leading, managing or organising programmes, subjects and/or disciplinary areas;
  • experienced subject mentors and staff who support those new to teaching;
  • experienced staff with School, Institute or Departmental and/or wider teaching and learning support advisory responsibilities within Queen Mary

To find out more, read Descriptor 3 of Professional Standards Framework (PSF2023).

Ways of applying

Dialogic process

If you decide to apply using the Dialogic process, you’ll need to submit evidence of your practice using an e-portfolio, alongside supporting statements from two referees. You’ll then be invited to a Professional Dialogue to explore and discuss the evidence that you’ve provided.

Written process

If you decide to apply using the Written process, you’ll need to submit a written Account of Professional Practice (APP) and supporting statements from two referees.

Next steps

We suggest that you review the guidance notes and, if you have any questions, book a drop-in session with the team. If you’ve decided that Senior Fellowship is right for you, and you have considered the application route, please book onto one of our SFHEA Application Drafting Workshops.
