During my second year of university, I volunteered as a mentor on the QM Buddy Scheme, a program designed to help first-year students settle into university. Drawing from my own experiences of navigating first year alone, I became a mentor to biology students, acting as a supportive role model and sharing valuable advice. After training in communication, leadership, and empathy, I guided my mentees on time management, useful academic strategies, and balancing personal well-being by introducing techniques like Pomodoro and spaced repetition to help them manage workload effectively.
