Overview

The Immigration Compliance team ensures that we are compliant with U.K. immigration rules whilst you're studying with us. Therefore, we may need to carry out certain visa checks during your enrolment and during your time with us.

If you are in the UK with Student (formerly Tier 4 Student) Immigration permission (sometimes referred to as a visa) it is very important that you are aware of the rules that you need to follow and the responsibilities that the university has as a Student Sponsor. Please see our Student Visa webpage for more information.

Immigration application refusal

If your immigration application is refused, you must inform the university immediately. You can do this by e-mailing a copy of your refusal notice to visavarification@qmul.ac.uk. If your immigration application has been refused, you can find advice about what you need to do next on the QMUL Advice and Counselling Service website.

New and continuing students

If you have applied to extend your stay in the UK to complete your studies at Queen Mary or you are a new student and applying for a visa under the Queen Mary sponsor licence in the UK and your visa application is still pending, you are required to regularly update us on the progress of your application by using the task in MySIS

As your visa application progresses, you will receive the following documents;

  • your Document Checklist
  • your immigration decision letter
  • your new immigration document - usually a Biometric Residence Permit (BRP)

Please email us these documents along with any other correspondence from the Home Office to casrequest@qmul.ac.uk.

Contact us

You can find more contact details for the Immigration Compliance team via the Registry Services' Contact Directory. Please allow a reasonable period for response as service level agreements for this team may change during busy times of year.
