Highly Likely to Succeed Letter

Overview

A Highly Likely to Succeed Letter is a document produced by Registry Services that confirms you are highly likely to successfully complete your programme based on the assessment of your performance to date. This declaration is used for meeting the conditions of offer (and subsequent issuing of a new CAS) when progressing to a new institution. Ordinarily, only Queen Mary Postgraduate taught students would be eligible for this document for further study on another Postgraduate taught programme or a Postgraduate research programme as finalist results release is usually after the new programme start date.

Undergraduate Requests

As Undergraduate students should receive their results well in advance of a new course start date, they would not be eligible for this document. We may however be able to issue them in exceptional circumstances and will review any requests for a letter on a case by case basis.

Exceptional circumstances usually only cover those who need to undertake late summer resits. This is because the results will be released after the new programme start date and right before their current visa expires meaning there is a very small window for a new CAS to be issued and apply for a new student visa in time.

Process

In order for us to create a Highly Likely to Succeed Letter, the Student Enquiry Centre must first receive confirmation that you are indeed highly likely to complete your programme. This would be done by administrative staff within your academic department who are able to confirm this using data accessible to them. Students should contact their academic department in the first instance to ascertain whether they are entitled to the letter.

If applicable, administrative staff should email the Student Enquiry Centre with your details and a confirmation, after which your documentation should be produced and sent to you via a helpcall (if logged) or your Queen Mary email address.

We may be required to liaise with other departments when considering requests, such as Queen Mary's Immigration Compliance Team or the Advice and Counselling Service.

The creation of this document is subject to the Student Enquiry Centre's service level agreements, so we advise patience whilst waiting for this request to be completed for you.
