Welcome to Queen Mary Accommodation

Before you can move into your room you will be required to have signed and accepted your residential licence agreement for the duration of your stay and to have paid your deposit fee of £400. If you have not completed these tasks please contact Housing Services before trying to collect your keys.

Arrivals - Term 1

Travel information and campus maps

Arriving by car (Mile End Campus)

If you intend to arrive on campus by car, please note that there is no car parking on campus. You will be able to drive onto campus, but we ask that you unload your vehicle within 30 minutes and then move off campus to park. Whilst your vehicle is on campus you must display the ticket given to you by the Security Officer at the gate and the car driver must remain with the vehicle at all times. We ask that you unload your vehicle as quickly as possible and then move off campus to park your vehicle. 

Arriving by car (Aspire Point)

There is no designated parking at Aspire Point. All parking is on local public roads, restrictions and charges may apply.

Arriving by car (Blithehale Court)

There is no designated parking at Blithehale Court. All parking is on local public roads, restrictions and charges may apply.

Arriving by car (Charterhouse Square Campus)

There is limited parking at Dawson Hall, which will be managed by the Security team on site. There is parking available on local public road, restrictions and charges may apply.

Arriving by car (Sherren House)

There is no designated parking at Sherren House. All parking is on local public roads, restrictions and charges may apply.

Arriving by car (Whitechapel Campus)

There is no designated parking at Floyer House or Varden Street. All parking is on local public roads, restrictions may apply.

Mile End to Residences Reception (During the construction of the new School of Business and Management you may be rerouted around Westfield Way)

If you're 18 or over, a student and living in a London borough, you can get discounted travel with an Oyster photocard. Information can be found on the Transport for London website.

Arriving from Heathrow

There are several options that students can utilise to make their way to Mile End campus.

Key collections 14-15 September 2024

At the beginning of September we will open our Arrivals Pass section, which will allow residents moving in over the weekend to select the time and date they wish to arrive. The Arrivals Pass must then be printed and shown when moving into residences over the weekend.

Arrivals slots are available on a first come, first serve basis. You will receive an email when arrival slots are available, and you can then login to select a time to arrive and print your Arrivals Pass from your accommodation account at residencesonline.qmul.ac.uk

Aspire Point, Stratford

Keys for Aspire Point can be collected from the reception in Aspire Point, which is open and staffed 24 hours a day. If you are arriving overnight, please select the last arrival slot of the day.

There is limited parking with severe restrictions on local public roads.

Blithehale Court, Bethnal Green

Keys for Blithehale Court can be collected from the reception in Blithehale Court, which is open and staffed 24 hours a day. If you are arriving overnight, please select the last arrival slot of the day.

There is limited parking with severe restrictions on local public roads.

Dawson Hall, Charterhouse Square

Keys for Dawson Hall can be collected from the Security Lodge, Charterhouse Square,, which is open and staffed 24 hours a day.

There is very limited parking with severe restrictions on local public roads.

Sherren House, Stepney Green

Keys for Sherren House can be collected from the reception in Sherren House, which is open and staffed 24 hours a day. If you are arriving overnight, please select the last arrival slot of the day.

There is limited parking with severe restrictions on local public roads.

Whitechapel, Moving in Weekend, 9am Saturday 14th September - 5pm Sunday 15th September (if collecting keys outside of these times please click here)

Keys for Floyer House can be collected from the foyer in Floyer House. Please be advised there are no lifts within this building.

There is very limited parking with severe restrictions on local public roads.

 

Connecting to wi-fi in Halls when you arrive

If you are staying on campus, there will be a temporary wi-fi service set up in Halls. Details on how to connect your device will be provided in your key pack. 

Please note that this is a limited wi-fi service only offered to students staying in Halls. As soon as you enrol, you will be able to obtain full access to the IT services at Queen Mary.

If you are living in Aspire Point, Blithehale Court, or Sherren House, more information will be provided to you at these halls, however, you can still follow the link to find out about WiFi at Queen Mary when you are on campus.

Register with the local doctor

We recommend that all Queen Mary students register with Queen Mary/local doctor prior to arrival. This will allow you access to health treatment should you require it. Residents at the Mile End and Whitechapel campuses can register with Queen Mary Student Health Service (SHS) located on the ground floor of the Geography Building, Mile End Campus.

To register with the SHS, please visit www.studenthealth.qmul.ac.uk and follow up the registration instructions there.

Students living at our other halls of residences can use the NHS Choices website to find medical centres near them.

Insurance

Insurance cover for your belongings, to the value of £5,000 (or £6,000 for Disabled students), is included in the cost of your room. This cover is provided by a company called Endsleigh Insurance.

Please note that you may require additional insurance depending on the items you are bringing with you and their value; key areas to check are the value of your computer equipment. Additional insurance will be required for bicycles and mobile phones.

Bed linen and kitchen packs

All Queen Mary residences are fully furnished. However, residents are reminded that they will need to provide their own bedding (linen, duvet, pillows etc), towels, cooking and eating utensils.

You can pre-order bedding packs & kitchen packs from our online shop.

Students who have been allocated accommodation on the Mile End Campus will be able to collect their items from the Online Shop collection Point in France House on Saturday 14 September and Sunday 15 September 2024.

Please bring a copy of your order and photo ID with you when you collect your items.

Students who have been allocated accommodation at Aspire Point, Albert Stern House or Cottages, Dawson Hall, Floyer House, Ifor Evans Place, Lindop House, and Stocks Court will have their items delivered to their rooms prior to arrival if the order is placed by 9.00am on Monday 9 September 2024. Students who have been allocated accommodation at Sherren House and Blithehale Court will be able to collect their items from the Reception in those halls if the order is placed by 9.00am on Monday 9 September 2024. Items ordered for these buildings after this date and time can be collected from the Online Shop collection point in France House on Saturday 14 September or Sunday 15 September 2024.

Items ordered by residents arriving before Saturday 14 September 2024 will be delivered to your room, or in the case of Sherren House and Blithehale Court, the Reception of those halls, if ordered within 2 working days of arrival.

Please do not place your order until you have accepted your offer of accommodation as you will need to know what room and flat that you will be living in to enable us to process your order and for you to order the correct size bedding pack of the hall in which you will be living.
