The School of Biological and Behavioural Sciences at Queen Mary University of London is excited to introduce its new leadership team in education. 

Dr. Sally Faulkner has been appointed as Director of Education. A Queen Mary alumna, Dr. Faulkner completed both her undergraduate and PhD studies at QMUL. With a research background in ecology and conservation and an emphasis on novel teaching methods, she is committed to enhancing the student experience by blending cutting-edge scientific knowledge with innovative approaches to learning. 

"I'm a big advocate for peer-led team learning, which I've seen ignite collaborative problem-solving skills in our students. The integration of AI is a game-changer, enabling us to create personalised learning experiences that adapt to each student's needs and pace. I'm committed to embedding employability throughout our curriculum, ensuring our graduates are ready for diverse career paths. What truly inspires me is our shift towards innovative assessments that challenge students to think critically and apply their knowledge to real-world problems. With emerging technologies like virtual labs, we're not just teaching biology – we're immersing students in it."

Joining her are Dr. Timothy Fulton, Deputy Director of Education for Undergraduate Studies, and Dr. Anne Ropiquet, Director for Postgraduate Taught Programmes. Dr. Fulton, brings his expertise in developmental biology and molecular genetics to the undergraduate curriculum. His teaching on the module Biomedical Physiology 1emphasizes both practical skills and theoretical understanding, encouraging students to explore the biological basis of human and animal development behaviour through research-driven learning. 

On the postgraduate front, Dr. Anne Ropiquet, whose research focuses on evolutionary biology, will oversee the postgraduate curriculum. Dr. Ropiquet’s research interests include speciation, molecular phylogenetics, and conservation biology, which she integrates into her teaching. Her expertise offers postgraduate students a solid foundation in evolutionary concepts, preparing them for careers in both academia and related industries. 

The leadership team is dedicated to ensuring that students at all levels receive the highest quality of education, tailored to the fast-evolving landscape of biological sciences.
