Queen Mary alumnus appointed Chief Adviser to Pakistan’s Finance Minister on landmark Crypto Council
We are proud to announce that Bilal Bin Saqib (BSc Business Management, 2011), a distinguished alumnus of the School of Business and Management at Queen Mary University of London, has been appointed as Chief Adviser to Pakistan’s Finance Minister on the newly launched Pakistan Crypto Council.

This prestigious appointment underscores Bilal’s leadership and expertise in digital innovation, blockchain technologies, and entrepreneurship. His role will be pivotal in advising the Pakistani government on cryptocurrency policy and digital transformation, supporting economic growth and financial transparency.
Leading Pakistan’s crypto and digital transformation
In February, Pakistan’s Finance Ministry announced plans to establish a National Crypto Council, focused on integrating cryptocurrency and blockchain technologies into the country’s financial system.
Bilal’s appointment demonstrates Pakistan’s commitment to:
- Embracing emerging technologies such as cryptocurrency and blockchain.
- Developing strong, transparent regulatory frameworks.
- Exploring the role of artificial intelligence (AI) to improve public sector efficiency and decision-making.
Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb emphasised Bilal’s critical role in guiding the development of Pakistan’s digital economy, fostering innovation and sustainable growth.
An alumnus making a global impact
Bilal’s career exemplifies how Queen Mary graduates lead positive change on an international scale. His accomplishments include:
- Founder and Director of BBS&Co – A digital marketing agency with clients across the UK and internationally.
- Co-founder of Tayaba.org – A non-profit organisation providing sustainable water solutions to communities in Pakistan, impacting over 20,000 lives.
- Recognition in Forbes’ ‘30 Under 30’ list for his work in social entrepreneurship.
- Recipient of an MBE (Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire) in 2023, awarded for services to the NHS and his community during the COVID-19 pandemic, through co-founding the One Million Meals campaign.
Reflecting on his time at Queen Mary, Bilal shared:
