Fees and Funding

Fees

Undertaking a PhD is a serious financial commitment, and involves careful financial planning at the time of application and for the duration of the programme. Prices will almost inevitably rise and you must allow for this when planning your finances. Your costs will comprise both tuition fees and living costs.

UK/EU

2020-21 Tuition Fees

Tuition fees for Home students are set by Research Councils UK (RCUK) and the 2020-21 rates are:

  • £4,407 for full-time research degrees (including MPhil and PhD)
  • £2,203 for part-time research degrees (including MPhil and PhD)

Part-time fees

Part-time fees are one half of the standard full-time programme fees. If the full-time programme fee increases in the second year, then you will be required to pay one half of the increased fee.

Funding

There are a number of sources of funding available to fund PhD studies for home and international students. For further information about the different sources of funding available via research area, school and country please see here.

We welcome applications from suitably qualified candidates from the UK, EU and overseas for full-time study in the following subject areas: Accounting, Finance, Marketing, Employment Relations, Equality and Diversity, Human Resource Management, Management & Organization Studies, Public Management, Supply Chain Management, Strategic Management, Information Management, Monetary and Macroeconomics, Labour Economics, Public Economics, International Business and Leadership.

The research proposals submitted by applicants should normally fit at least one of the School’s Research Centres and Groups. Candidates must specify which research group they wish to join and identify potential supervisor(s) on their application form. Candidates are encouraged to discuss their research proposal with a member of academic staff specialising in their research area.
