Biography:
Dr Kamran Sarmadi is a Lecturer (Assistant Professor) in Logistics and Transportation at the School of Business and Management, Queen Mary University of London. Prior to joining Queen Mary, he was a Lecturer in Transport and Logistics Management and the Deputy Programme Leader of the MA Logistics and Supply Chain Management at the University of Greenwich Business School. Additionally, he worked as a research assistant at the Newcastle University Business School, Newcastle University. Kamran holds a PhD in Operations and Supply Chain Management from Newcastle University Business School. He received an MSc in Logistics & Supply Chain Management and a BSc in Industrial Engineering.
His main area of expertise is the application of operations research (OR) and mathematical programming to transport, logistics, operations, and supply chain management problems. His research focuses on optimising decision-making problems in logistics and supply chain management. Kamran is a research-active academic, and his work appears in internationally recognised and high-impact journals.

Research
Research Interests:
Kamran specialises in optimising logistics, operations, and supply chain management (OSCM) issues, with a focus on:
- Logistics and supply chain management
- Modelling, simulation, and optimisation for OSCM problems
- Container shipping supply chains
- Designing supply chain and transport networks
- Inventory management and control
His research develops mathematical models for better decision-making in transport, logistics, and supply chains. He employs operational research techniques including linear and integer programming, stochastic programming, and robust optimisation to tackle real-world challenges in uncertain environments. By accounting for uncertainties, his work aims to enhance business efficiency, environmental benefits, and societal growth.
