Profile

Anna’s role at QM involves leading on interdisciplinary and entrepreneurial in-and-extracurricular projects and initiatives, including one of the Entrepreneurship Hub’s flagship programme Project ReMAKE and other social impact projects.

Prior to QM, Anna co-led participatory arts company Project Phakama until they closed their doors for good in 2023. Phakama was based in the Arts Research Centre at Queen Mary University and worked closely with local communities and the QM Drama department. For several years before this, Anna managed arts programmes for all ages for Coin Street Community Builders on the South Bank.

Anna’s entrepreneurial spirit saw her help set up North London Swedish School in 2010. In 2015 she set up her own CIC, Waterloo Community Theatre. She is also the co-founder of Curious Collective, an all-female led organisation seeking new insight working with communities.

Anna holds a BA (Hons) Communication from Middlesex University and an MA Applied Theatre from the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama. In addition, she holds a PGCE and a PG Cert.

Anna is in the final stages of completing her PhD with York St John University. Anna’s research is a practice-based reflection exploration of the potential and possibilities of making theatre with young people. She has had two peer-reviewed papers published to date and serves on the editorial board of online journal ArtsPraxis. Anna as a Fellow of the Royal Society for Arts and Manufacturing.
