QConsult

Develop your employability and team-working while consulting on a live business project.SBM QConsult team

QConsult allows you to utilise your creativity and problem solving skills while working on a live consultancy project for a business or charity. You will be paid to research, analyse and make recommendations that your team will present directly to the client through a short report and presentation. To get you started, you will receive pre-project training around consultancy, project management, professional and presentation skills. Teams also attend regular project coaching meetings with a QMUL supervisor and a post-project debrief where you will learn how to apply this experience to future applications and interviews.

QTaster

Gain insight into large companies and SMEs and get hands-on experience with employers in their own offices.Students taking part in QTaster session

QTaster allows you to explore different sectors, working environments and roles across a range of graduate employers. It is a brilliant opportunity to gain insight into companies who are both well-known and new to you, learn more about the day-to-day culture of different organisations, find out about their graduate application process and get hands-on experience with employers in their own offices.

SBM Internships

Earn money and develop professional skills alongside your studies with a paid SBM Internship. 

SBM Interns work with the School of Business and Management or with local small and medium sized employers to develop their skills and gain real-life work experience. You will be able to develop skills for their CV through practical work-based placements and gain insight into industry. Hear from previous SBM interns about their experiences.

The Colorintech Immersion Programme brings the brightest students from underrepresented backgrounds to tech hubs across the world to explore what it's like to enter and thrive in the innovation economy. Students leave the Immersion Programme with a greater level of knowledge about the industry, increased confidence and a better understanding of their career options. Students are equipped with the tools and skills they need to ensure they execute on their goals successfully. The programme destinations include San Francisco and Los Angeles interacting with tech companies including Google, WeWork and Weebly through site visits, workshops, networking dinners and more.

Professional Development courses

Give your CV a boost with a qualification from a Professional Development course. 

SBM offers undergraduate students opportunities to take Professional Development courses three times a year. We typically offer two different courses at the same time for approximately 40-70 students in total. Courses we have run in the past include:

  • Prince2 Foundation
  • GDPR Foundation
  • Business Analysis
  • Microsoft Excel (intro, intermediate and advanced)
  • Creative Strategy
  • Introduction to Financial Trading
