The Annual Live Art Lecture is organised by the Department of Drama at Queen Mary in partnership with the Live Art Development Agency (LADA). Each year, QMUL Drama and LADA welcome an influential thinker to discuss an urgent topic for making, showing, theorising and/or historicising Live Art, as a commentary on - or intervention into - a form that frequently seeks to be marginal, ephemeral, politically resistant, and anti-institutional. The event is designed to appeal to a broad range of audiences, including artists, scholars, students, and Live Art enthusiasts of all stripes. Each year takes a different shape, for example as an embedded feature of a fuller day of talks and performances, or as a standalone online event. Attendance is always free, and all are welcome.
The 1st Annual Live Art Lecture was presented at Queen Mary in 2019 by the artist Brian Catling RA
The 2nd Annual Live Art Lecture was presented online in 2021 by the artist and critic Morgan Quaintance
