3.2.3 Audio-visual installation, SCAR (2017)
Creative Practice Research Output
Alongside the data produced through the sociological research (service mapping, community surveys, focus groups and semi-structured interviews) HERITAGE undertook a parallel artistic process to explore and reveal the diversity of the narratives of women and girls within territories marked out by violence: their potential for protagonism and their capacity for resistance.
In collaboration with renowned film-maker and theatre director Bia Lessa, HERITAGE curated an audio-visual installation, SCAR, based on the research findings. This was presented at the Southbank Centre as part of WOW Festival (Women of the World Festival) in March 2018. The installation, which was open to all those attending the WOW Festival, and was supported by public talks and conversations with HERITAGE, Cathy McIlwaine (UK PI), Miriam Krenzinger (Brazilian PI), Eliana Sousa SILVA, and two of the women whose video testimonies were incorporated in the installation. For the full programme, see 3.3.1.1.
