Profile
Anna Raute is Senior Lecturer of Economics at Queen Mary University of London. She is Research Affiliate at CEPR, member of the Executive Committee of the European Association of Labour Economists (EALE), and served on the Council of the European Economic Association (EEA) until 2025.
Prior to joint Queen Mary in 2018 she was Assistant Professor at University of Mannheim and Research Fellow and Lara Warner Scholar at the Women and Public Policy Program at Harvard Kennedy School. She holds a PhD from University College London.
Her primary research interests are in labour, family and public economics, with a focus on the causes and solutions to socio-economic and gender inequalities. In past work she explored the effects of early childhood education and parental leave benefits on children and their families, as well as the impact of culture on female labor market decisions. In on-going work, she studies the role of firms for gender inequalities, and the long-run effects of gender-based violence.
