Training information:

I will be covering the basics on how to typeset a document on LaTeX, assuming no prior knowledge. All I am asking is that participants to the workshop should bring a laptop with them, or notify me in advance if that is not possible, so I can make the necessary arrangements. Additionally, it would help if everyone makes sure to already sign up to Overleaf (https://www.overleaf.com/), as this is the platform that we will be using.

The workshop will be hands-on and informal. I will introduce the essentials for compiling a document on LaTeX, and then focus on the aspects most relevant for typesetting an academic paper: bibliographic references and citations, examples and cross-references, figures and tables. Time permitting, we should finally cover some topics of interest specifically to linguists, such as IPA transcriptions and syntax tree notation.
Given the informal and interactive nature of the workshop, I expect many questions, issues, or interest areas to arise as we go along, but please do email me in advance for any specific requests on the material covered.
If you have any questions about the workshop, please contact Pietro: p.baggio@qmul.ac.uk
