Research in the Department
We have strong research specialisms in
- aesthetic paradigms;
- the study of emotions and trauma;
- literature and the history of science;
- intercultural transfer and communication;
- transnationalism and migration;
- gender and sexuality;
- memory studies;
- the history of ideas;
- visual culture;
- language policy and politics;
- modern theatre.
We welcome PhD applications across all of these areas. (Please note the Department's interests are very broad and if you have a project in an area not mentioned please get in touch and discuss with us.)
