Funding obtained by Film staff in the academic year 2012-13 included four awards from national funding bodies:
The AHRC awarded £45,000 and £39,000 respectively to two International Research Networks, 'Bazaar Cinema: Young people repurposing media in London and Mumbai (Harbord, 2012), 'Screening Nature' (Pick, 2012)
The AHRC Cultural Engagement scheme awarded £40,000 for a research collaboration with the East End Film Festival (Harbord, 2013)
The QM Public Engagement Fund awarded £40,000 to Drama, Film and Computer Science for a Cultural programme, 'Peopling the Palace' (Harbord and Mandis, 2012-13)
The research forum Living British Cinema was awarded seed funding of £10,000 (Drazin, Bolton, 2010) and £9,450 by the Westfield Fund for Enhancing Student Experience for its 2014 Festival (Bolton, 2013)
The department's production unit, Mile End Films, was awarded £27,000 by the Student Experience Investment Fund (Mandis, 2011)
The 'Iconic Image and Political Violence' research project was awarded £1,000 of SLLF seedbed funding (Hicks, Saxton, Westwell)
The Film Phenomenology symposium was awarded £1,000 of SLLF seedbed funding (Bolton, Chamarette)
