"You can’t be what you can’t see.”
Undergraduate Chemistry students Aisha and Israt, through the support of Dr Tippu Sheriff and Dr Lesley Howell have spent their summer creating resources for A-Level students to highlight the contributions to chemistry of scientists from underrepresented communities. This 10-week project was funded by the Royal Society of Chemistry's Inclusion and Diversity Fund. The aim of the students was to increase the percentage of students from underrepresented communities studying STEM subjects with a particular focus on chemistry. Their resources consisted of fact and information sheets, posters, activity sheets and short videos.
We welcome teachers to download these resources to share with your students, faculty collegues and wider school community, to bring these influential figures to life and remind your students that anyone can be a scientist.
