Physics and Astronomy Department Taster & Offer-Holder Day

The event proved highly popular and approximately 100 of our registrants have made it to our School, despite the significant challenges on the day - rail strike and icy and snow weather conditions on 14th December 2022. We were delighted to welcome our visitors.  

Across a full day, we ran two parallel events in the Graduate Centre (across Rooms 201 and Room 601), offering a similar event itinerary (with minor variation). We ran several taster sessions, as follows:

• Taster Lecture in Cosmology by Prof Chris Clarkson, Director of Admissions
• Physics Taster Session in Polaroid Lights, Light Crystals and Liquid Crystal Displays performed by our experimental physicists and Senior Lecturer, Dr Theo Kreouzis
• Physics Demonstration/Experiment and Nova Control Room Tours in Go Jones in a shared session between our senior particle physicists Dr Seth Zenz, Outreach Leadand Dr Linda Cremonesi UK Future Leaders Fellow

In addition, we ran a Q&A Session with our Student Ambassadors, Director of Education -Dr Chris White and Student Support Officer - Harvey Abraham Green (Room 201) as well as Campus Tours with our student ambassadors (Room 601).
