Astronomy and Chemistry Shine in 2024 National Students Survey Results

The recently released 2024 National Students Survey (NSS) results have highlighted significant achievements in Astronomy and Chemistry, marking a milestone for the Faculty and contributing positively towards our TEF2027 objectives. These encouraging outcomes underscore our ongoing commitment to delivering a student experience rated as Gold.

Astronomy Tops the Charts

Astronomy has emerged as a standout performer in the latest NSS results, with an impressive 95% of students rating the 'Teaching on my Course' category positively. This exceptional score places the subject first in the country, a testament to the dedication and expertise of the faculty members involved. The high ratings in this area reflect the quality of education and the engaging learning environment provided to students. Additionally, Astronomy received over 90% positivity scores in 'Academic Support' and achieved high ratings in 'Learning Resources,' further emphasizing the program's excellence.

Notable Improvements in Chemistry

Chemistry has shown significant progress, particularly in the 'Learning Resources' category, where it saw a 7.6% increase from last year, resulting in an 89.5% positivity score. This improvement underscores the continuous efforts to enhance the resources available to students, facilitating a more enriching and supportive learning experience. The positive feedback from students highlights the success of initiatives aimed at improving the educational infrastructure and resources within the Chemistry department.

Recognition of Faculty Efforts

These achievements in Astronomy and Chemistry are a result of the collective efforts of our faculty and staff. Their dedication to providing high-quality education and support to students has been instrumental in achieving these positive outcomes. The increased response rate of 69.5% compared to last year is a testament to their encouragement and engagement with students.

The continued efforts of our faculty and staff will be pivotal in achieving the QMUL Strategy 2030 vision of providing an outstanding, inclusive, and world-class student experience. The NSS results provide a clear path for future improvements, ensuring that we continue to deliver exceptional education and support to our students, fostering their success and satisfaction.
