Neutrino-Nucleus Interactions with MINERvA and DUNE

Research Group: PPRC
Full-time Project: yes

Funding

Project Description

Making novel neutrino-nucleus interaction measurements with MINERvA.  DUNE is a future long baseline neutrino oscillation experiment in the USA aiming to discover a matter-antimatter asymmetry in neutrino oscillations.  MINERvA is a dedicated neutrino-nucleus interaction experiment that has recently completed data taking at Fermilab.  During your PhD you will make new interaction measurements with MINERvA and apply their predictions to DUNE.  There will also be the opportunity to participate in test beams at CERN or Fermilab if desired.  The project will involve data analysis, simulation and optionally hardware work.

Requirements

Knowledge of C++ and/or Python would be useful
