Professor Jon HaysHead of Particle Physics Research Centre | Professor of PhysicsEmail: j.hays@qmul.ac.ukRoom Number: G. O. Jones Building, Room 415ProfileTeachingResearchSupervisionPerformanceProfileAs a member of the PPRC, my primary research interests are in the areas of particle physics, large scale scientific computing, and machine learning. Within particle physics I make measurements of Higgs bosons as a member of the ATLAS experiment at CERN, search for magnetic monopoles with the MoEDAL experiment also at CERN, and preparing for the next generation of large neutrino experiments as a member of the DUNE experiment. I am also involved in the management of large scale computing resources for UK scientists through my roles in the STFC IRIS project and the GridPP project.TeachingMy teaching Currently, I tutor for the Synoptic Physics module(PHY300) that runs in Semester A and am module organiser for the module on Introduction to C++ Programming (PHY4321) that runs in Semester B.ResearchResearch Interests:See Jon Hays’ research profile pages including details of research interests, publications, and live grants.SupervisionThis is not an exhaustive list and I would be happy to discuss other project possibilities.
