Strategic Hires in Science and Engineering

Computer Science

Computer Science research has always been one of the core strengths of Queen Mary, starting from principles of both logic and mathematical modelling techniques to developing practical capabilities. We are seeking new staff in a broad range of areas including security, decision systems, sensor networks, agent-based testing, information retrieval.

Examples of QM staff working in this field:

  • Prof Edmund Robinson is Professor of Computer Science at QMUL, where he is also leading the Centre for Fundamental Computer Science and the Research Group in Theoretical Computer Science.
  • Dr Anthony Constantinou is leading the Machine Intelligence and Decision Systems research group; his research interests are in Bayesian Artificial Intelligence for causal discovery and intelligent decision making under uncertainty. He collaborates with academics and industry organisations across various disciplines including healthcare, sports, economics, and gaming.
  • Prof Steve Uhlig is Professor of Networks, lead of the Centre for Networks, Communications and Systems, and Head of School of Electronic Engineering and Computer Science. His research interests are focused on the large-scale behaviour of the Internet, Internet measurements, software-defined networking, and content delivery.
  • Dr Maria Bada conducts research on digital culture and the effectiveness of cybersecurity awareness campaigns aiming to identify factors which potentially lead to failure of these in changing the information security behaviour of consumers and employees.
