Boosting Wellbeing
Certain factors have been found to help boost wellbeing including good physical health and diet, maintaining a good sleep pattern, building relationships with others, volunteering (giving something back) and meditation. Making time for these may seem a lot to ask when students are trying to manage deadlines or exams but attending to some of these factors is just as important as studying, even during busy periods.
If students have good mental wellbeing they are able to:
- feel relatively confident in themselves and have positive self esteem
- feel and express a range of emotions
- build and maintain good relationships with others
- feel engaged with the world around them
- live and work productively
- cope with the stresses of daily life
- adapt and manage in times of change and uncertainty
The Wellbeing Referral Programme
The Students’ Union runs a Wellbeing Self-referral Program designed to give students bitesize information on how to make small lifestyle changes that can make a big difference to mental and physical wellbeing. If you feel like your advisees would benefit from boosting their wellbeing please send them to Wellbeing Referral Programme resources.
