Accessibility checklist
Follow this checklist whenever you are publishing content on the Queen Mary University of London website.
Images
- Check you have added alternative text to your image.
- Check you have the correct copyright and consent for your image.
- Check your image is the appropriate size for the content type you have used
- Check your image doesn't contain copy, as screen readers won't be able to read this.
Videos
- Check that your video is embedded via a platform like YouTube, where captions are automated.
- Check your video has been added using a dedicated video content type.
Headings
- Check that your content is broken up with headings and subheadings where possible.
- Check that your headings are formatted correctly, and in the correct order.
Links
- Check you have formatted your links correctly within T4 (Eg section link vs external link).
- Check that you are using descriptive links.
Documents and PDFs
- Check you are only uploading documents when it is not possible to present the content as HTML on a webpage.
- Check that your documents are PDFs, and have been through Adobe accessibility checks.
Tables
- Check you are not using a table when one of our alternative content types would be appropriate.
- Check any tables you do have to use are formatted correctly within T4.
