File names
When uploading images or documents to the website, it is important to give them accessible names on your computer before you upload them.
When you upload an image or document to T4, the file name will be whatever name you have given that file on your computer. This will then be used to create the file URL, and cannot be changed (even by changing the name within the T4 Media Library).
For this reason, it is important to give any files you upload an accessible name before you ever upload them.
What is an accessible file name?
An accessible file name will -
- Not use acronyms
- Include keywords describing the file
- Separate words with hyphens rather than spaces
Not only will these changes make your file more accessible, but they will also increase the search engine optimisation of any webpage you add them to.
