Adding a 2023 folder to your news or events listing

With the new year fast approaching, it's time to create a folder for your 2023 news, events, or seminars.

Who this is for

This blog applies to schools and institutes whose websites have a news, events or seminar structure divided by year. The structure typically looks like this:

  • NewsScreenshot of the webpage structure in T4 with the sections under the news folder divided by years
    • 2022 (contains 'News Listing' content type)
      • Items
    • 2021 (contains 'News Listing' content type)
      • Items
    • 2020 (contains individual content types called 'News basic')
      • Items
  •  Events
    • 2022 (contains 'Events Listing' content type)
      • Items (contains individual content types called 'Event new')
    • 2021 (contains 'Events Listing' content type)
      • Items (contains individual content types called 'Event new')
    • 2020
      • Items (contains individual content types called 'Event new')

How to create your 2023 folder

  1. Click on the T4 site-structure. Navigate to the parent News page, select the blue 'Actions' button and then select 'Create section' from the drop down.
  2. Name the section '2023', and check or uncheck 'show in navigation' depending on the previous year’s setup. Once you have done this, select 'save changes' at the bottom.
  3. Create a new child section under the 2023 folder and name it 'Items' (it won't work if it has a different name). This is where you'll create your individual news, event, or seminars. It should look like the screenshot on the right.
  4. Finally, duplicate the News Listing or Event Listing item from the 2022 section to 2023 one.

The listing in the 2023 section will automatically pick up all articles posted in the 'Items' child section and display them as and when needed.
