Hero image

The hero image content type is used in place of a page banner. It should be used alongside the intro text content type, where you will add your page description.

Steps

Step one - Prepare your images

You need to create three image variants to accommodate different screen sizes. Create these within the T4 media library using the variants option. The image sizes are -

  • 1200 px by 400 px
  • 900 px by 300 px
  • 600 px by 200 px

Once you click on Variants in the drop-down menu you'll be taken to a page where you can choose the dimensions and save each version.

Step two - Create the content type

  1. Create the content type by pressing the green '+ Add content' button.
  2. Select 'Hero Image for OW pages' in the content type list. If you can't access it,  contact websupport@qmul.ac.uk.

Step three - Fill in all asterisked fields and add the images

  1. All fields with an asterisk must be filled in.
  2. Add the different image sizes to their respective sections.

Step four - Publishing your content

  1. Once the general content type is saved and approved, publish the general content in the (child) section you created, and then the section itself to make sure everything publishes.

Uploading images - important note

Make sure you have the appropriate permissions before publishing an image or video. This includes permission of the copyright holder and, in some cases, the permission of anybody in the image (eg a signed consent form). Find out more about this on our Images page
