Q-Review Live Stream Player - A new option for MME?

Q-Review will be getting a new Live-stream player. If you have to teach students both in person and remotely simultaneously, this could change how you use the university's lecture capture.

Echo360 has just released its latest player update for Q-Review Live streaming. If you are already using Q-Review to capture your lectures, you may want to add the Live stream option, not only for remote students but for the students who attend in person. The Live view will give you a remote or in-person option when you join the session.

For students attending remotely, the player can choose the remote option, where the focus is primarily on the content. The player appears larger whilst the discussion thread, participant list, and notes take a secondary role. The student, or viewer, can then select how they want the video stream to appear with options to view the featured video, Picture In Picture, Featured Speaker (PIP), and options to split the screen horizontally, vertically, or lay them out in a grid format.

Students who attend a lecture in person can now benefit from the Q-Review Live Stream. When joining, they can select the In Person option. This will display the same information, but the layout uses less space for the screen and camera and the focus shifts to participation. The audio is automatically muted, the player appears smaller, and the attention is directed towards class discussions and taking notes.

As a lecturer, there is no need to schedule online meetings or for uploading a recording after a lecture. All it will require will be an e-mail to timetabling to enable live view for your Q-Review sessions.

TELT are currently trialling the new player before enabling it in the Live environment. If you would like more information, to see a demo, or take part in a pilot, please get in touch via our e-mail address telt@qmul.ac.uk.
