FAQs
If you have embedded links to Zoom for your modules, you will still be able to use them until July 31st, 2025, when Zoom will be decommissioned. Zoom links should be removed from QMplus well in advance of the module page being rolled over for the next academic year.
This is currently being worked on by IT Services to support MS Teams integration in QMplus.
This functionality will change. MS Teams recordings are currently uploaded to the meeting organiser's OneDrive (private meetings) or SharePoint (channel meetings). It’s also linked in the chat for the meeting. More information on managing Teams recordings can be found here.
IT Services are investigating ways to automatically link recordings to QMplus.
Zoom is currently integrated with QMplus Media (Kaltura), which means all cloud recordings are automatically transferred to your QMplus Media account. Even after Zoom is no longer available, you will still have access to these recordings.
To keep recordings available for students in the QMplus archive, you will need to add them to the module's media gallery.
For detailed instructions on accessing Zoom recordings, please refer to our guide: What Will Happen to My Zoom Recordings and the Zoom integration with QMplus?
We do not recommend that individuals or schools/departments purchase Zoom licenses, as IT Services will not provide central support for Zoom.
Yes, you can still join Zoom meetings using the free version of Zoom. Similarly, those outside of QMUL do not need an MS Teams license to join meetings—you can send them an invitation, and they can access the meeting via a web browser or the MS Teams app without any cost.
We are aware of a licensing change with Zoom. If you need a webinar license, please raise a ticket via the IT Service Desk to request it. However, please note that Zoom will be decommissioned on 31st July 2025, so future webinars should be created in MS Teams as Webinars or Town Halls.
You can host online meetings and video calls for up to 1,000 people on MS Teams with our current Microsoft 365 plan.
As per current licensing limits, Zoom users can only host up to 500 participants.
Students should be logged into MS Teams using their QMUL account before they join a meeting.
