I have been a TELT student ambassador for a year now, and it's been such a rewarding experience. Working with the TELT team has been incredibly fun, and I’ve picked up so many valuable skills along the way. From collaborating with a fantastic department of staff to engaging with students from different schools, the role has allowed me to connect with so many people across the university. I was also able to make great friends through TELT, which made the experience even more enjoyable.
One of my favourite aspects of being a TELT ambassador has been the opportunity to give back to students. It was particularly rewarding to help students from all backgrounds gain confidence in using learning technologies that will help boost their learning experience and support their student life. As someone who’s already been through the challenges of university, it felt great to share tips and advice with new students, helping them settle in and make the most of their academic journey.
In addition to the inductions, I've also had the chance to contribute my own insights on improving the online learning experience, particularly around enhancing module design on QMPlus. These suggestions were featured in QMUL's Digital Education Studio newsletter, which was a great opportunity to share ideas on making the virtual learning environment more accessible and user-friendly.
Beyond the day-to-day duties, the role opened up some incredible opportunities. I had the chance to represent TELT at events within QMUL but also at a Learning Technology Conference in Manchester. It was great to learn more about technology-enhanced learning and to proudly showcase the success of our student-led inductions, which the TELT team has been running for two years now.
Overall, my time as a TELT student ambassador has not only enriched my university journey, helped me make lasting friendships, but also provided me with many transferable skills that I’ll carry forward into my future career.
