As a final year Marketing student at Queen Mary University, my role as a Technology Enhanced Learning (TEL) Student Ambassador has been an incredibly rewarding experience. I joined the team with the intention of giving back, remembering how challenging the transition to university can be. It was fulfilling to help new students navigate platforms like Q-Review and Turnitin, showing them how these tools can enhance their academic journey. I also developed my public speaking skills, which I know will be valuable in the marketing field when presenting to stakeholders is a key component.
Beyond helping others, I gained important personal and professional skills through this role. Collaborating with the TEL Team taught me the value of teamwork and adaptability, especially when learning new technologies on the spot. This experience strengthened my problem-solving abilities and gave me the confidence to handle unexpected challenges, whether technical or interpersonal. Overall, being a TEL Student Ambassador has enriched my university journey, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to contribute to the student community in such a meaningful way.
As a student ambassador I have gained valuable experience in working coherently with a supportive team. The opportunity to deliver various presentations with a colleague has improved my organisational skills, public speaking skills and my communication skills. I believe being a student ambassador has not only helped me academically but also personally. I feel more confident as an individual and I can time manage tasks better especially as a university student who can have multiple deadlines at once. I also gained from this role through the social aspect; working collaboratively with the team was truly enriching.
