Your Offer Holder Day will be taking place online on Wednesday 17 April 2024. Below is some information you will need before you attend the event:

The Platform

This Offer Holder Day will take place on the online platform Ring Central. Receive your exclusive access link via email, granting entry to the event 48 hours in advance. Explore the online schedule, filtering sessions by subject area, and save your favourites to your agenda for easy access.

Attend the live Queen Mary Welcome talk at 10:00 (BST) followed by engaging live sessions hosted by your academic school and experience firsthand what it's like to study at Queen Mary by attending taster lectures presented by our academics and gain insights from current Queen Mary students in subject-specific panels. Find your subject below for a preview of what to expect from your academic school.

Student Support Services

Connect with a range of support services, including Housing, Advice and Counselling, and QMUL Students' Union. Explore their on-demand content and chat with services between 12:00-13:30 BST.

Campus Tour

Virtually follow a Queen Mary student around our Mile End Campus to see first-hand what life is like living and studying at the only campus-based Russell Group University in London. Access this via the Expo tab on the platform, with Queen Mary students available from 10:30-13:30 to answer your questions.

Emma Griffin is Head of the School of History and is looking forward to welcoming you to the School of History on 17 April.
Emma Griffin is a Professor of Modern British history. After an undergraduate degree in History at Queen Mary in the 1990s and a PhD and postdoctoral fellowship at Cambridge University, she spent eighteen years at UEA, before returning to QM in 2023 to take up her current position as Head of the School of History. Emma has written five books, most recently Bread Winner: An Intimate History of the Victorian Economy (Yale University Press, 2020), and is currently writing a global history of industrialisation for Penguin Press.

Professor Lasse Thomassen, Professor of Politics
How do we fight populist demagogy and post-truth? Donald Trump himself claims to be the source of truth. We will look at how Trump talks about truth in order to make sure we really understand what Trumpism is about. We then look at what post-truth is. Trumpism is a post-truth discourse, but we need to understand precisely what that means. Finally, we’ll look at humour as a way to think about, and to fight, post-truth.
