Profile

I am a skilled geneticist and genomic counsellor with a diverse background in human genetics and genomics. I began my academic journey at Stellenbosch University in South Africa, where I completed an undergraduate degree in Physiology and Genetics, followed by an honour’s degree in Human Genetics. Seeking to expand my expertise, I moved to the UK to pursue a master’s in Genetic and Genomic Counselling at Cardiff University.

  • Alongside my studies, I gained valuable professional experience working for the NHS in London. I initially joined a regional genetics service as a genomic associate and later advanced to the role of Principal Genomic Practitioner. In these positions, I was able to apply my knowledge to help patients navigate complex genetic conditions.
  • Throughout my career, I’ve maintained a strong interest in cancer genetics, focusing on the genetic factors underlying various cancers. I also have experience in prenatal genetic cases and counselling patients with a wide range of general genetic conditions. With a solid foundation in both the practical and theoretical aspects of genetics, I am dedicated to improving patient outcomes through genetic counselling and genomic research, continually striving to deepen my expertise in this rapidly evolving field.
