Cross-course collaboration between Software and Hardware modules

Dr Ling Ma and Dr Matthew Tang, QMUL Westfield Fund Winning Project 2016 and Best Poster Prize at QMUL’s annual Teaching and Learning Conference 2018

We designed an innovative approach at the programme level to help students understand the relationship between software and hardware modules.

The objective of this project is to provide a coherent learning experience for students and a collaboration opportunity for lecturers. Students complete a collaborated coursework to reinforce concepts from both software and hardware modules. Details of this project, with a full report and poster, can be found on the Queen Mary Academy website as a case study.

This project was presented at QMUL’s annual Teaching and Learning Conference 2018 and won the Best Poster Prize for “the most inspirational for their own work”. It was also presented widely at the HEA’s Annual Teaching and Learning Conference 2018: Teaching in the spotlight, Birmingham, July 2018.
