Banking and Finance LLM Students Visit Lloyd’s of London for an Exclusive Insight into Insurance Regulation

As part of the learning on the "Regulation of Insurance Companies" a group of 18 Queen Mary students had the unique opportunity to visit Lloyd’s of London, the world’s leading insurance and reinsurance marketplace.

the visit was arranged by Professor Rosa M. Lastra, Sir John Lubbock Chair in Banking Law and Chair of the Institute of Banking and Finance Law at the Centre for Commercial Law Studies.

The visit was led by Kevin Lazarus, Solicitor at Lloyd’s of London, who provided an in-depth overview of the legal and regulatory framework governing insurance markets. Students gained first-hand insights into Lloyd’s role as a marketplace for risk, the function of syndicates, and the evolving regulatory landscape shaping the global insurance industry.

This visit offered students a valuable opportunity to connect theoretical knowledge with real-world practice, enhancing their understanding of insurance regulation within one of the most historic and influential financial institutions in the world.
