On 28th November 2024, the School of Business and Management at Queen Mary University of London proudly hosted its second Employer's Address.
Featuring an exceptional lineup of speakers, the event provided a platform for inspiration, meaningful connections, and forward-looking discussions on the evolving job market. The event celebrated diversity, inclusion, and the power of collaboration.
This year, attendees were privileged to hear from Sandra Kerr CBE, Race Equality Director at Business in the Community, and Julie Linn Teigland, EY EMEIA Area Managing Partner and EY Global Leader for Women. Both speakers brought unique perspectives and invaluable expertise to the evening, emphasizing the transformative impact of equity and innovation in the workplace.
A lively Q&A session allowed students and attendees to engage directly with the speakers, gaining deeper insights into building impactful careers. The speakers addressed key challenges facing graduates and the role of employers in shaping a more equitable workforce.
The evening concluded with a vibrant networking reception, offering students the chance to connect with industry leaders, academics, and peers. This evening of impact and connection reinforced the School of Business and Management’s commitment to bridging the gap between academic excellence and professional success.
Reflecting on the event, Mike Noon, Dean of the School of Business and Management, said:
"At the School of Business and Management, our mission is firmly rooted in the principles of social justice and advancing social mobility. We recognise that many of our students face significant barriers when it comes to accessing professional networks and opportunities that are often more readily available to their peers from more privileged backgrounds. These collaborations help us bridge the gap, providing students with the resources, connections, and experiences they need to succeed in competitive job markets.
I am immensely grateful to Sandra Kerr, Julie Linn Teigland, and all those who attended this year’s Employer’s Address."
