International Politics, Business Studies and Film Studies are 'pathway' modules. You must choose at least one pathway module when selecting your academic modules, as your pathway will determine the academic school you are eligible to apply to for your master's degree. For example, if you want to progress to the MSc Marketing with the School of Business and Management you must choose Business Studies as your pathway module. If you want to progress to an MSc in Public Policy with the School of International Relations and Politics, you should choose International Politics I and II. NB: If you wish to take the MSc Accounting & Finance (jointly offered by the School of Business and Management and the School of Economics and Finance) take the Graduate Diploma in Economics & Finance.
Course structure:
Academic subjects are taught in lectures and seminars. Lectures can contain up to 50 students, but seminars will be divded into smaller groups, containing up to 18 students. In ELSS, our maximum class size is 18, although our average class size is 16.
Students will study up to a total of 20 hours per week on the Graduate Diploma in Humanities and Social Sciences; 12 hours of this is timetabled for ELSS (of which 10 hours will be teaching time) and up to 8 hours is timetabled for academic subjects, dependent on the academic modules you choose (see academic modules for further details).
